Sp i n n e r s S a ch i t h r a Senanayake and Jeffrey Vandersay combined with effect as the duo shared nine wickets for SSC to outclass their traditional rivals NCC by a massive 194 runs in their Premier Super Eight encounter at the CCC grounds yesterday.

NCC set a challenging target of 350 runs to win, was never on target as SSC skipper Sachithra bagged four of the five early wickets to fall with the scoreboard reading just 87 runs.

At this stage, the writting was on the wall for NCC. The rest of the batting failed to make an impact as Jef frey Vandersay bagged two quick wickets to have them struggling on 99 for 7.

Only Tharindu Kaushal was able to make some impression but it was not going to get them anywhere as he became Sachithra’s sixth scalp. NCC were bundled out for 155 as SSC coasted to their second successive win of the Premier Super Eight tournament.

Ragama CC batting the second time were struggling for survival against SLPA CC at the FTZ ground in Katunayake. Ragama CC were left with the task of erasing a deficit of 216 runs to avoid an innings defeat.

The noteworthy fact is that discarded national bastsman Lahitu Thririmanne is amoing the runs yet again inspite of the Ragama failiure. In the first innings Thirimanne scored 52 and followed it up with another knock of 40 in the second innings. But, Ragama ended the day on 137 for 8 in their second innings.

The man who made the differ- ance for the SLPA was batsman Gayan Manieeshan who scored a brillient 139 not out for the portsmen. Besides Maneeshan Yohan de Silva 66, Gihan Rupasingha 66, Charith Jayampathi 62, were also were among the runs with half centuries.
