The Mall opens next year Q2 at Shangri-La

The next biggest store, The Mall on Thursday signed up its first tenants to soon enter the building at One Galle Face which is expected to also be the best address in town to live and work.

The Mall’s anchor tenants - Odel Plc, Keells Super, Food Studio and PVR Cinemas were handed over a golden brick as a symbol of their partnershi­p with the Shangri- La Group at an event held on Thursday at the Grand Ballroom of the Shangri-La Hotel.

The Mall is a part of One Galle Face and is the city’s first internatio­nally developed and managed mixed used developmen­t project by the Shangri-La group scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2019.

The proposed mix of trading points are a ground floor comprising a supermarke­t, food court, convenienc­es, sundry, food hall for takeaway and fast food.

The first floor would comprise a department store, internatio­nal brands in fashion, shoes, accessorie­s, skin care and cosmetics, luxury watches and jewellery and restaurant­s.

On the second floor one could walk into a department store, local and home grown brands in fashion, shoes, accessorie­s, bags, jewellery and western cuisine.

The third floor would offer a department store, sports and lifestyle, travel and gadgets, electronic­s, home, beauty and wellness, and Asian cuisine.

A kid’s world takes centre stage on the fourth floor with a playground, apparels, accessorie­s, enrichment schools, toys and games, hair and beauty, wellness, bookshop and Asian cuisine.

A street market bazaar would be found on the fifth floor alongside mass fashion and related trades, a gymnasium, telecommun­ication services, multi brands sports and fitness equipment, medical dental and affordable eats.

The sixth floor allows visitors to sit back in a cinema with nine screens, themed food and beverage, and wine and chill out bars.

At least 70 per cent of the residences have already been sold out at The Mall which comprises 406 sophistica­ted residences within two towers with a full range of amenities.

In addition over 50 per cent of the office space has been leased out made up of 600,000 sq. feet of premium office space and world class facilities.

The Mall also provides over 250 shopping and entertainm­ent options on its seven levels.

The Mall will also introduce several new market brands such as Chili’s - an American casual dining restaurant chain that features Tex- Mex- style cuisine, Oporto – grilled chicken from Australia, the Toy Store - a renowned toy store from Dubai and designer wear by world renowned brands such as Diesel, Michael Kors, Armani Exchange and Emporio Armani. The stateof-the-art mini cinema complex comprising nine cinemas, including a dedicated kid’s cinema will also be the first in the country. These cinemas will be operated by one of the giants in the entertainm­ent industry – PVR Cinemas.
