Be an Early Childhood Teacher in New Zealand – Study/ Earn/ Live and Work in New Zealand

-

Ladies College – Institute of Professional Studies (LCIPS) now offers students in Sri Lanka the opportunity to part study in Sri Lanka and graduate in New Zealand with the government recognised Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching from New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC). This degree enables students to officially register as EC Teachers in New Zealand and enter the work force.

Those with 3 A/L passes in any stream with a credit pass in English can directly enrol in the one year Pre Degree program at LCIPS. Those with 6 credit passes including English at OL (Students can enrol with predicted results of OL exam of 2017) can enrol in the 6 months Foundation of LCIPS and qualify to do the pre degree course of one year.

Upon successful completion of the pre degree course students will enrol in the Bachelor of EC Teaching course at NZTC which would be for 2 ½ years. Upon graduation the students will be eligible for a year of post study job seeker visa during which period they can obtain New Zealand Teacher Registration and be fully qualified EC teachers and if so desire to live and work in New Zealand one of the most beautiful and peaceful developed countries in the world.

Why you should consider this career and pathway

Early Childhood Teaching (not the Montessori Method) is the most accepted qualification to teach children from 3-5 years.

Qualified EC teachers are in such short supply all over the developed countries including New Zealand hence excellent job opportunities

To do a degree course in teaching students need high proficiency in English and the pre degree course includes intensive training to acquire required entry level in IELTS/ PTE

Getting 6 months credit towards degree program in New Zealand following the Pre Degree course saves considerable sum of money on New Zealand tuition fee and living costs.

Whilst studying in New Zealand, the international team at NZTC will find placements in childcare centres close to their accommodation for students to do compulsory 16 hours per week practice teaching. Though this is not paid for, most of these centres offer students payments at hourly standard rates (approximately NZD 17) after few months as students are eligible to work part time of up to 20 hours per week.

On graduation (in most cases even before graduation) these centres offer students full time unlimited work because childcare centres are aware that students will be eligible for provisional registration with Education Council of New Zealand and post study job seeker visa of one year (automatically qualify to apply and obtain) from Immigration New Zealand . This is due to a severe shortage of ECE qualified and registered teachers,

Upon registration as an EC teacher one can seek employment at a starting salary of around NZD 50,000 a year and qualify to seek even permanent residency in New Zealand. We assist students for the initial visa and post qualifying visas. Thus this pathway gives students to qualify to do an undergraduate degree, saving money without the need to do full course overseas, obtain a valuable degree, earn living expenses whilst studying, pathway to get full employment, obtain teacher registration in New Zealand, enter into a well paid career and if so desire live and work in New Zealand.
