We eat clean, exercise for the purpose of living a healthy life. It would be a grave mistake to embark on a healthy lifestyle compromising your health to start off with! Establishing a healthy lifestyle is a common goal, but it’s not always clear where to begin. The first step is to believe you can make any change you want. Then start making small adjustments in diet, outlook and exercise, and you’re on the way to a healthy lifestyle.

Get Hooked on Exercise

Start incorporating exercise into your routine, and aim for at least 30 minutes a day. Exercise not only burns calories and fat while building muscle and bone strength, it releases “feel good” chemicals in your brain, making you want more. Exercise can reduce stress, boost your energy level, strengthen your immune system and slash the risk of many diseases including heart disease, stroke and several chronic illnesses.

Start by walking just 10 minutes a day and continue to increase the duration and intensity of your exercise sessions. But there are times where you feel discomfort when tiring your body. In this case you need to consult your family doctor or General Physician!

If you’re starting an activity, exercise for the first time in your life or after a prolonged period there are a set of questions you need to ask yourself. And in this case, you need to be completely honest with yourself.

Start by answering the seven questions in the box below. If you are between the

ages of 15 and 69, the PAR-Q will tell you if you should check with your doctor before you start. If you are over 69 years of age, and you are not used to being very active, check with your doctor.

Common sense is your best guide when you answer the questions in the box. Please read the questions carefully and answer each one honestly.
