Macquarie MD (Doctor of Medicine)

The Macquarie University Doctor of Medicine ( Macquarie MD) is embedded within an established University that has a culture of transformative learning with its own hospital within MQ Health ( mqhealth. org. au) – an academic health sciences centre that integrates patientcentred clinical care, teaching and research.

We aim to prepare our graduates for the predicted environments in which they will practice: as future leaders in healthcare, who are patient- centred and safetyfocused, culturally responsive, globally aware and equipped to work within increasingly digital health systems.

Our program has been designed to enrich well- established approaches in medical education with current and emerging innovations. It aims to provide an innovative, high- quality, student- centred learning experience.

Early years of the program integrate clinical, scientific, professional and cul- tural learning around cases – placing patient-centred care as a central concept in all learning. Later years of the program provide rich clinical learning opportunities with our established clinical partners.

Extended international experiences, especially in India, are optimised through online communities of practice across the globe to provide comparative learning opportunities that will help you apply public health thinking, see the differences between health systems, discuss unique presentations and diseases, and develop cultural responsiveness.
