Spa your way to a good night’s sleep

-

Sleep is a luxury for most and on March 24, Spa Ceylon Luxury Ayurveda collaborated with the World Sleep Society for a workshop and deep sleep experience at the Mövenpick Hotel to mark World Sleep Day, which fell on March 16.

A good night’s sleep brings a multitude of health benefits. Deep sleep is a term used to describe Stage 3 sleep, a phase also known as slow wave sleep. Spa Ceylon’s Sleep and Sleep Intense ranges were specially formulated to create the multi-sensory experience necessary to indulge in this deep sleep. The team of doctors at Spa Ceylon’s research and development team that created the range drew from a wealth of knowledge and experience on Ayurvedic rituals associated with restful sleep, drawing from tested ingredients and rituals to formulate potions that are calming to the senses.

The morning workshop was themed ‘The Natural Science of Deep Restful Sleep’. The session began with a presentation led by Ayurvedic specialist Dr Chamathka Niroshini,

who discussed the role of the science of ayurveda in capitalizing on the restorative powers of sleep for a happier, healthier life. Hatha Yoga specialist Rekha Krishnamoorthy then taught guests a set of calming chakra relaxation techniques towards achieving more restful sleep.

That afternoon, Spa Ceylon together with Mövenpick Hotel invited 12

guests of varied backgrounds to experience deep restful sleep through the Spa Ceylon sleep ritual. The Sleep Ritual incorporates the range of products under the Sleep and Intense lines, such as the Sleep Body and Pillow Mist, Sleep Intense Herbal Tea, Sleep Intense Dream Balm and Soothing Body Elixirs together with the Spa Ceylon Sleep Candles and Sleep music specially crafted to promote deep restful sleep.

Guests were first given insight to overall wellness and the importance of deep restful sleep by Dr Chamathka after which the Co-Founder of Spa Ceylon, Shalin Balasuriya guided the audience through the Spa Ceylon sleep ritual. Once each participant was in their own luxurious bed with custom made pillows from the Mövenpick Hotel, Hatha Yoga expert Rekha led them in a meditative session resulting in 60 minutes of undisturbed deep sleep.

Customers can indulge in the full home spa experience with products such as the Sleep Intense Shower Gel, Calming Body Massage Serum, Relaxing Body Cleanser, Soothing Body Elixir, the Eye Pillow and Dream Balm, and Herbal Infusion. Travellers craving for rest on the go will find the Dream Balm Roll-On and the Dream Essence Mist a breeze to use.The Sleep Intense range is available at all Spa Ceylon Outlets in Sri Lanka.
