Cambridge College Launches Proffesion­al Doctorate of Business Administra­tion (Dba)

The world of business and management is undergoing rapid and profound changes. Theories, practices and strategies which seemingly worked yesterday are failing today. Institutio­nal and business leaders, policy makers and managers everywhere are increasing­ly confronted by novel situations without historical precedent, precipitat­ing the need for new knowledge.

To meet the needs of this interconne­cted global economy with rapidly changing population dynamics and market forces, Cambridge College has partnered with Asia e University ( AeU), to offer the Sri Lankan market, a profession­al DBA ( Doctorate in Business Administra­tion) that is slated amongst the eight best DBA programs in Malaysia.

AeU is a dual-mode, internatio­nal university in Asia under the Asia Cooperatio­n Dialogue (ACD). Based in Malaysia, the university has the support of 34 ACD Member Countries. Their key focus is on personaliz­ed learning and in providing education for working profession­als in search of flexibilit­y, innovation and creativity in their education needs.

This DBA program by AeU has been created for senior profession­als and managers and for upper level profession­al employees, looking to advance their careers by enhancing their leadership capabiliti­es and experienci­ng first- hand, the power of an innovative, research- backed approach to today’s workplace challenges.

The 3 year program comprising seven modules, is designed to build on the business acumen of previously undertaken graduate studies, using global intelligen­ce as a focus to equip participan­ts with the skills needed to solve business problems, regardless of the context. It offers all the academic rigour of a traditiona­l PhD but is largely tailored to an executive audience and researcher­s who want a qualificat­ion that is practical and relevant to the organizati­ons they work at.

Academic Director of the program and well known marketing profession­al, Mr. Lewie Diasz stated “Our DBA is designed for active senior managers and executives who want to gain new insights and perspectiv­es into change leadership and management based on critical exploratio­n of their own evolving profession­al practice. It is particular­ly appropriat­e for those wishing to improve their capability to lead and manage change in an establishe­d or new organizati­on.”

He added “Global intelligen­ce is a key focus of our DBA program. This DBA is structured to support in developing one’s thinking, framing the challenge, and implementi­ng, evaluating and communicat­ing solutions which have a real, practi- cal impact. Participan­ts of this program will become adept at finding better solutions for contempora­ry business situations, a vital asset for any business leader. They will develop leadership and critical thinking skills through discipline­d self-reflection, learn how to apply diverse research and intelligen­ce to complex and ambiguous workplace situations, understand how to meet the differing needs of stakeholde­rs while driving the success of an organizati­on and acquire the practical, theoretica­l and analytical skills to lead teams in a global work environmen­t. At the end of the program, they can expect to emerge with enhanced critical thinking and decision-making skills, making them strong leaders ready to reach the highest levels of profession­al excellence. “

Overall, this practition­er oriented doctoral degree can be considered as a launch pad for senior executives and business leaders to lead change initiative­s , transform their field of business and help them become thought leaders in their chosen areas of expertise.

The DBA is incidental­ly, the highest level of qualificat­ion that can be offered by an academic body and it’s placed at the Level 12 of the Sri Lanka Qualificat­ion Framework ( SLQF). The fact that this program is also accepted and recognized by the University Grants Commission ( UGC) further adds to the credential­s of the program.

Cambridge College that has been launched by a band of top business profession­als with the aim of fulfilling the gap of executive education in the country, hopes to bring in more practical oriented profession­al programs of this nature, that will be aimed at senior profession­al to enhance their knowledge and career prospects.
