Taylor Swift cast in film version of musical ‘Cats’

Pop star Taylor Swift heading for the big screen. She is reported to be in the cast for film version of the musical classic Cats. Swift is said to be joined other familiar names such as Sir Ian Mckellen, James Corden and Oscar winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson. Filming is expected to commence in autumn with the film release next year. The original musical of Cats was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and first staged in London’s West End in 1981. The first Broadway production in New York City was in 1982.

P op legend Sir Tom Jones fell ill last week and was hospitalis­ed with a bacterial infection. As a result the 78 year old star was forced to cancel concerts in Chichester on 18th July and Chester on 19th July, also a show in Germany on 21st July and one in Leicesters­hire, England on 22nd July. The ‘Green, Green Grass Of Home’ hitmaker took to social media to apologise to fans about the cancellati­on. The Grammy and Brit award winning singer had to cancel several show in the US last September after he underwent a hip replacemen­t operation.

A s two new songs by the group Abba are to be released in December, reports quoting group member Bjorn Ulvaeus indicate one song will be a pop dance track while the other will be a sad but happy Nordic song. Ulvaeus was in London recently for the premiere of the second instalment of the movie musical Mama Mia: Here We Go Again. rake has scored another chart topper in the UK with ‘In My Feelings’. The song which debuted last week at No: 4, moved up to the No: 1 spot. The hip hop bounce track surged after it became the subject of a new dance craze called “#InMyFeelin­gsChalleng­e”. The song picked up 91,000 combined sales with 8.8 million streams. Drake wrote the chart topping song with 14 others. ‘In My Feelings’ samples ‘Smoking Gun’ by Magnolia Shorty and ‘Lollipop’

It’s the second release from her upcoming album ‘Sweetener’. The hip hop/ pop bounce track follows ‘No More Tears’ which peaked at No: 3.

T he Australian pop punk band 5 Seconds Of Summer returned to the UK top 10 singles chart after four years ‘ Youngblood’ the title track of their new album. The synthpop track has commercial appeal and thus helped the group achieve their fourth UK hit song.
