SriLankan Airlines win with flying colours
SriLankan Airlines exhibited their driving prowess when their Team 2, comprising Driver Tharaka and Co-driver Shabira in a Toyota Yaris, won the 4th Travel Trade Sports Club ( TTSC) Fun Motor Rallyconcluded recently. The Rally with a total of 40 vehicles, each flagged off at 2-minute intervals from the BMICH Eastern Car Park, finished at Jetwing Blue, Lewis Place, Negombo, completing 40 km.
The rally was marshaled by the Royal Automobile Club Asia (Pvt) Ltd.
Emirates Team 7 of Driver Milan and Co-driver Harini in a Toyota Fortuner, came second.
Green Holiday Centre Team 2 of Driver Madushan and Co-driver Ravi Wisidagama in a Nissan X Trail, finished 3rd.
The other seven places went to World Link Travels (Dhanuka+Rashantha-Mazda 3), Golden International Travels ( Azeel+ Ziard- Land Rover Freelander), Emirates Team 8 ( Akila+ ChaminiToyota Corona), Himpras Travels ( Jude+ PallewelaMercedes Benz C 180), Yenesha Travels ( Shanaka+ NimnaSuzuki Celerio), Air India (C. Fernando+Sasidaran-Toyota) and Mobitel Tr ave l s (Wajira+Aruna-Mitsubishi KL 3), respectively.
Man behind this successful event is the TTSC President Bonita Odayar, for reviving the rally after a lapse of 15 years, which was lavishly sponsored by Metro Leisure and Metro Travels.
On completion of the rally, the teams enjoyed a beach party, which was followed by the presentation of awards.
The awards were given away by Chief Guest- Metro Leisure and Metro Travels Managing D i re c t o r T h a n a r a j a h Mylwaganam, TTSC President Bonita Odayar, TTSC General Secretary Dilshan Gnanapragasam and TTSC Committee Member Bandula Vithana.
