Poramadull­a Central Rikillagas­kada in second round

The Poramadull­a Central Rikillagas­kada Under-15 cricket team, led by Sachinthak­a Kuruppuara­chchi, advanced to the second round of the ongoing SLSCA Singer trophy Under-15 Division 3 Cricket Tournament as they completed the first round with three first-inning wins and two outright wins from the five matches.

They registered first innings wins over Our Lady’s College Nuwara Eliya, Jayahela NS Pudaluoya and Gamini NS Nuwara Eliya while defeating Ambagamuwa Central Hatton outright by an innings and 40 runs and then Highland Central Hatton by 10 wickets.

Showing plenty of promise as an allrounder Dilan Susandika was outstandin­g with a tally of 493 runs which included three centuries, an unbeaten 150 against Our Lady’s Nuwara Eliya, 151 runs against Jayahela NS Pudaluoya and another unbeaten 129 against Gamini NS Nuwara Eliya.

He was supported by skipper Sachintha Kuruppuara­chchi, who also scored two centuries, 150 against Our Lady’s Nuwara Eliya and another knock of 111 against Jayahela NS Pudaluoya to shine as the second highest run getter for his side.

The spin duo right-arm leg spinner Gayan Sandeepa and right-arm off- spinner Darshana Viduranga were the most successful bowlers, who ended the first round matches calming over 20 wickets each. Sandeepa captured 21 wickets for 124 runs with his best figures being 7 for 28 against Jayahela NS, while Viduranga took 23 wickets for 158 runs with a match bag of 9 for 92 against Highland College Hatton being his best. The team is coached by Manoj Silva while Anil Indrarathn­a functions as the Master-in-charge.
