CCC School of Cricket to celebrate 20th Anniversar­y on August 11 and 12

The premier Cricket Coaching School in Sri Lanka, CCC School of Cricket, founded by veteran coach Nelson Mendis, will celebrate its twentieth (20th) Anniversar­y, with the Annual Inter House Cricket Tournament next Saturday (August 11) and Sunday ( August 12) at the CCC Grounds, Maitland Crescent, Colombo 7.

The popular Annual Inter-House Cricket Tournament will feature seven age groups:- Under 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 and over 14 with over 250 students taking the field to test their skills and expertise learnt over the years.

The four competing houses are named after cricketing legends-Don Bradman, Gary Sobers, Sachin Tendulkar and Mahela Jayawarden­e.

Last year Tendulkar House won the Championsh­ip defeating Jayawarden­a House.

The honoured Chief Guest on the Final Day ( August 12) will be former Sri Lankan Test cricketer and stylish opening batsman Malintha Warnapura, the present coach of St. Peter’s College, Colombo 4. Mrs. Warnapura too will grace the occasion and will give away the awards.

This year’s event is organised by a special Committee of Parents headed by Mrs. Pamoda Weerakkody ( C h a i r person), Messrs. R. Ravichandr­an, S. Shanmugana­than, Siddhika Williams, Sanjeewa Kadawathar­achchi and senior coach Manoj Millawitha­nachchi.

Two days of interestin­g cricket with healthy inter- house rivalry and camaraderi­e will be displayed to bring joy to all. Fun games for kids, The Old Boys vs. Coaches Match and Parents Match will add more colour to this Annual event.
