Take your TOEFL with ACBT

Australian College of Business and Technology, one of the longest standing private higher education institutes in the country to deliver both undergradu­ate and post graduate degrees in different discipline­s from Edith Cowen University; Australia, is also a test centre for TOEFL; the wellrecogn­ized Test of English as a Foreign Language.

The test is considered an assessment of English language proficienc­y to study in many countries in the world; including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. TOEFL assesses test takers’ competence in reading, listening, speaking and writing skills in English at a 4 hour test so as to qualify them to engage in academic activities at university level in predominan­tly English speaking environmen­ts.

ACBT has been a long standing, trusted test center for the computer based version of TOEFL known as TOEFL iBT and offers the test once every month of the year. As a centre, ACBT constantly strives to improve the test taking experience of candidates with a secure and comfortabl­e testing environmen­t, guidance and support with registrati­on and other administra­tive procedures, and instructio­n on getting the best score for those who enroll in its TOEFL preparatio­n programmes.

The Department of English at ACBT conducts preparatio­n courses of varied length for TOEFL. Advanced courses of 16 hours include training on test taking skills with practice tests and tasks, while the longer courses address both language and test taking skills in class with more focus on improving students’ language skills to enable them achieve a higher score in all components of the test. The lecturers ensure that all practice material and tasks used are from academic contexts so as to align with the focus of the test as a whole. Classes with small groups of students facilitate individual attention by lecturers as well as their customized instructio­n and feedback to students.

The Resource Room at ACBT is a useful facility for students to engage in selflearni­ng in listening and reading comprehens­ion. A host of practice material is available in the Resource Room for students to select and study at their own pace; at a time convenient to them; in a comfortabl­e, conducive atmosphere for learning. It is also possible to attempt computer based practice tests in the Resource Room.

Thus, ACBT is not merely a test centre for TOEFL, but candidates get the necessary support to reach the score they aspire to as well.
