“I did my A/L examination in 2012 at my Alma Mater Musaeus College with the intention of pursuing my higher studies in the Engineering Faculty, yet I did not get the opportunity to do so and see it as blessing as it brought me to SLIIT. I commenced my journey at SLIIT in 2013 and graduated in 2017. This period of my life was very special as I was given a holistic education and the confidence and motivation to face the future!
Excelling in Her field of Study
Dilini excelled in her field of study, purely based on determination and a will to succeed. Ultimately these qualities paid off by the additional recognition and awards she received for the ‘Best Performance’ and ‘Outstanding SLIIT Graduate’. Thereafter, she was given an opportunity to work at SLIIT in the capacity of an Assistant Lecturer at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty.
Breaking the Mould
Her reason for choosing this field is mainly due to her love for Engineering and the need to prove that this field does not have to be dominated by one particular gender as in the past. “At SLIIT, I found many girls who were interested in Engineering, which shows that SLIIT provides education for anyone who is interested to learn and does not discriminate”.
