Young achiever Ben Jiphston Barrington completes CIMA before 20

-

The CIMA professional qualification has rightfully earned its place as the most relevant global finance qualification for a career in business. Ben Jiphston Barrington is another achiever amongst those who have managed to complete CIMA before the age of 20.

Inspired by his brother’s success with CIMA, Ben believed pursuing the qualification would bring him closer to his dream of becoming the shareholder of a top company someday. As with many of CIMA’s achievers under 20, he considers passing CIMA exams to be a demonstration to employers of him possessing the knowledge, competencies and skills expected of a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).

Sharing his thoughts on what influenced his decision, Ben iterated, “The examination method, especially the Objective Test Question (OTQ) exams, differentiates CIMA from other professional qualifications. OTQ exams test every candidate’s ability to cope with time and handle immense pressure. Practicing to complete my exams efficiently and calmly has definitely set me on course for further success in the future.”

His secret tip to succeeding in CIMA is to schedule exams the day after one has decided to do it. Opting for fixed exam dates helps to ensure a student feels 75% ready. From his viewpoint, the remaining 25% can be achieved with relative ease through revision. Abiding by this formula has resulted in Ben now ranking amongst CIMA’s youngest and brightest student achievers.

Self-motivation and the absence of self-doubt are notable characteristics of students like Ben who have completed CIMA with flying colours. Speaking on how he mentally set himself up for success, Ben elaborated, “I would tell myself that everything is doable and ensure I was mentally strong and positive. Next, I would target to finish the hardest OTQ exam of that particular level as soon as possible. After tackling the hardest exam, I would then move onto the next comparatively easier exam and finally, finish off the easiest exam. This is the tried and tested method I used to overcome time constraints at every stage.”

The world’s leading, and largest, professional qualification centred on management accountancy, CIMA is reputed for giving its students and members the kick start they need to soar to greater heights. It continues to transform students like Ben into visionary professionals who are capable of shaping the global landscape of the future.
