LOLC Group recently signed an MoU with the Alumni Association of the University of Colombo ( UoC), extending its engagement with the UoC Partnership Programme for another year up to 2019.

The UoC Partnership Programme is an initiative of the Alumni to work closely with leading private and public sector organisations to provide opportunities for enhanced corporate sector involvement and support in the UoC's activities. Deutsche Bank AG, Sri Lanka, Nations Trust Bank and 3Cs are t he other Corporate Partners, with more in the pipeline.

It is envisaged that, as in the past year, this Partnership Programme will provide further impetus to the Association to carry out its Student Development and Welfare a c t iv i t i e s i n cluding Men tor ing , Communication, Soft Skills and Leadership Programmes, Career Guidance, Inspirational Talks, Health Programmes, Member Engagement and Social activities.

UoC Alumni President Rajeev Amarasuriya said he was happy that, for the second year running, this Partnership Programme has grown from strength to strength, and there has been very positive feedbacks. He went on to state that, for example, the cont i nuous Leadership Development Programme conducted by NTB, in collaboration with Bridge Consultants, has resulted in a remarkable shift in the perception of the participating students towards the private sector, with many already securing employment in the private sector. He went on to state that this was remarkable progress in the short timeframe of the last year, and was hopeful these Programmes could be conducted across the university.

Speaking on this occasion LOLC Chief Human Resources Officer Pradeep Uluwaduge said, "This is a t rue example of a University-Industry strategic alliance. Increased collaboration between Higher Educational Institutes and the Industry can exploit multifaceted advantages for both parties. As a responsible corporate citizen, we firmly believe that, this sort of close linkage between the premier educational institutes and the leading conglomerates of a country, is of paramount importance for the development of that nation. LOLC Group is committed to play the lead role in the country’s journey towards development. Hence, we are extremely happy to extend our partnership with the Alumni Association of UoCo.”
