EDLOCATE OFFERS STUDENTS TO MEET AUSTRALIAN UNIVERSITY REPRESENTATIVES IN COLOMBO & KANDY

-

For the 18th consecutive year, Edlocate is organizing the “one on one” interview sessions with specially flown in academics and representatives of the Australian universities we represent in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. This much awaited annual event is organized this year at the Cinnamon Grand with more space in hand to meet the increased demand.

This event is the ideal opportunity especially for students who received the 2018 London GCE A/L results to finalise their study options in Australia. Some of you may have visited the “Study Abroad Day” organized by us on 18th August. Others may have done your own research. You will thus be armed with a lot of information about the universities we represent in Australia and the courses they offer. Having narrowed down your options you can now meet the representatives of the universities of your choice and ask specific questions that need to be answered for you to make the final decision. Such questions can range from the actual strength of the university with regards to your chosen field of study/ their success stories of students who did follow such courses/ academic excellence and research strengths/ the opportunities for scholarships at the beginning or even halfway through the course if you do very well during the course/ openings available to get internships and related work experience through industry links the university has on completion of courses etc.

Edlocate represents 27 universities in Australia which includes all the eight top universities – the “Go8” Universities. We also represent several university pathway providing institutions for those who do not have direct entry A/ L results to enroll in degree programs through Foundation and Diploma programs. We have universities we represent in all of the 6 states and the two territories in Australia. Therefore we offer a wide choice of locations/ institutions for you to select, to do studies.

Representatives from a large number of Australian universities and their pathway providers will be present to meet with you and your parents in person. By meeting these university representatives and faculty staff, first hand information could be obtained with regards to university specific information only privy to them. Edlocate counselors will be associated with the university staff to provide all information with regard to financial and other requirements from enrolment to obtaining student visa. Together we can even link you with students from Sri Lanka who are already doing studies in these universities should you require to get any specific information from a neutral source.

There are many advantages in selecting Australia to be the destination to do your tertiary studies. The courses offered in all universities in Australia are regularly audited by regulatory bodies in order to update contents in keeping with the advancements of disciplines in the world. Australia is the 2nd largest destination for international students after the USA ( overtaking England). Thus Australian universities and higher educational institutions are thus well established to provide international students with quality education and right ground conditions to live and study with least stress or disturbance.

The biggest advantage in doing tertiary studies in Australia is the ability to obtain post study work experience through a legitimate visa grant process to international students. The University representatives you can meet can give you all information about the industry links their universities have to obtain, this valuable asset which will stand in good stead when entering your career. Even USA does not have such a scheme in place. There are also opportunities for students who wish to live and work in Australia to do so officially once they complete studies if they desire.

Arrangements are made for students to lodge applications for placements to selected universities without incurring an application fee for the February 2019 intake. In order to do so, we request students to bring your O/L & A/L results if you are enrolling in undergraduate studies and those seeking postgraduate studies should bring the documents pertaining to the first degree or professional qualifications. They should also bring IELTS/PTE results (If available) and the passport. Students who just finished sitting Sri Lanka GCE A/L examination can lodge applications for placements with pending results which should be a letter from school authorities. Students with recognized diploma including HND qualifications could discuss possibilities of obtaining credits towards degree courses based on Recognized Prior Learning (RPL).

These interview sessions will be conducted on 1st, 2nd and 5th September in The Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo , and on 6thSeptember at Edlocate Colombo office.
