Each year Sri Lanka facilitates approximately 24000 students into the 14 local universities and 8 other campuses and Institutes. This is from the 280,000 students who apply each year for the G.C.E A/L examination. Though 61%(approximately 150,000) of the total candidates who sit for the G.C.E A/L become eligible for university entrance, the actual percentage who receive university admission and therefore enters into the local university system is less than 10%. Any candidate just after G.C.E A/L can start with the FIT program simultaneously to the BIT degree which will allow a definite entry to the Degree, even if A/L results discourages you from entering into the local universities.
