CA Sri Lanka’s Applied Accounting Degree which is among the most renowned academic qualificat­ions in accounting records highest ever intake this year

The BSc. Applied Accounting Degree offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of Sri Lanka ( CA Sri Lanka) recorded its highest ever intake in March this year, with over 750 students registerin­g to follow the degree programme, which has also been approved by the University Grants Commission.

The degree programme, which has within just a few years gained the trust and popularity among youth as well as parents and employers has already witnessed the graduation of over 220 local and foreign students, who are now employed at leading organizati­ons in both Sri Lanka and overseas.

The three year programme, which is the only applied accounting degree offered in Sri Lanka is conducted by an eminent panel of lecturers from state universiti­es as well as industry experts representi­ng leading organisati­ons.

CA Sri Lanka, which is the preferred and recognized destinatio­n for accountanc­y education in the country, is the only profession­al body in Sri Lanka that offers a recognised degree programme as well as a profession­al qualificat­ion in accountanc­y. Due to the recognitio­n from the University Grants Commission, students who follow the BSc. Applied Accounting degree also enjoys the same recognitio­n enjoyed by state university graduates.

The two- year inter nship offered through this degree programme is part of the programme that adds more value and quality to the entire programme. The internship ensures that graduates enter the workplace with practical experience and clear insights into demands of the workplace.

The BSc. Applied Accounting degree has also been internatio­nally accredited from highly respected accounting organisati­ons such as the Associatio­n of Chartered Certified Accountant­s (ACCA) and CPA Australia.

Students who follow the BSc. Applied Accounting also have the option of completing one or two years of the degree in Sri Lanka and enroll at La Trobe University or Deakin University in Australia and complete the degree, along with the option of also completing a Masters’ Degree.

Registrati­ons are now on for the September 2018 intake of the BSc. Applied Accounting degree of CA Sri Lanka.

Students with passes in three subjects ( in any subject stream) at the GCE Advanced Level (Sri Lanka) examinatio­n or any foreign qualificat­ion equivalent to the GCE Advanced Level Examinatio­n in Sri Lanka ( Edexcel/ Cambridge) can register for the degree programme. Registrati­on is also available for students with pending A/L results as well.

CA Sri Lanka has also taken steps to arrange for loan facilities for students in order for them to pay for the programme. Further, students from non- commerce streams can also enroll for this degree, as prior knowledge in accounting is not a prerequisi­te, thereby offering greater flexibilit­y and the opportunit­y to obtain a recognised qualificat­ion in the field of accountanc­y.

The degree programme also offers exemptions for profession­al qualificat­ions such as CA Sri Lanka, CIMA, ACCA, SLIATE, HNDs and AAT and is offered at full time and part time basis.
