The amazing episode of Janith who made it happen

-

It was on the 19th of September 2018. The Yal-Devi express train was on its journey from Jaffna to Colombo Fort. At once it stopped at a forestry area, Mahagalkadawala, Anuradhapura. The technicians of Sri Lanka Railway struggled with this problem to recover it nearly for an hour but their hopes didn’t. At that moment a young blood came forward voluntarily and with the permis- sion of the technicians he looked into the problem Within 20 minutes he was able to fix the problem amidst hundreds of all other passengers.

This boy namely Janith Dimantha Vithanachchi, still a student who follows his higher studies in the field of engineering, is from Mapalagama, Galle. He obtained his primary education from Poddiwela Central College, Galle and later he S. Thomas’ College, Bandarawela for his secondary education. Because of his enthusiasm in the field of Engineering, Janith enrolled at the Ceylon Germen Technical Institution in Moratuwa for his higher studies in Mechatronics and later to ICBT, Kandy.

Janith has been able to bring fame to Sri Lanka through success at international Robotic Games such as TECHFEST INDIA - leading International Robotic Challenge (2015 – 2016) IIT Mumbai, the Robotic Challenge (2016) IIT Kanpur at University of Kanpur India. And in addition to also in many National level robotic games.

Janith’s Father Sunil Vithanachchi is also an engineer who introduce tractors, hoista and wood splitters that operate with hydraulic power systems and has won presidential award for his innovations. His mother is a retired teacher namely Dhammika Vithanachchi. He is the only son in the family.

According to Janith, he has didthis great job to anyone but to help hundreds of helpless passengers in the train at that time. Actually, in the present society humanity, ethics and kindness are fading away. In such situation this young student has set a good example.
