Another Dialysis CRRT machine to Batticaloa Teaching Hospital by the Singer THIRST FOR LIFE program

Donation of a Dialysis CRRT machine to Batticaloa Teaching Hospital was made under the Singer ‘ Thirst for Life’ program recently.

Batticaloa region is greatly affected by kidney disease and patients transferre­d from the nearby regions too are treated at the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital. As the hospital’s Dialysis CRRT machine alone does not sufficient to meet the demand, a need of another machine has been a long felt necessity.

Among the Corporate Social Responsibi­lity (CSR) projects carry out by Singer Sri Lanka, Thirst for Life is a prominent program. The project aims to provide Dialysis CRRT machines to identified needy hospitals in the country.

Thirst for Life project was started in 2013 donating first two Dialysis CRRT machines to the Polonnaruw­a Hospital five years ago. A one Dialysis CRRT machine is cost about three million rupees and apart from the Polonnaruw­a Hospital, Batticaloa Teaching Hospital, Colombo National H o s p i t a l , Jaf f n a H o s p i t a l , Wathupitiw­ala Hospital and Medawachch­iya Hospital are the other hospitals where Dialysis CRRT machines were set up under the Thirst for Life project.

Customers who purchase water filters from the island wide Singer showrooms contributi­ng for the project as Rs 100 from each water filter is donated to the Thirst for Life project. There are seven such machines so far set up by the project.
