Walkers Tours invites enthusiast­s to be the next ambassador­s of tourism

Walkers Tours Limited, a premier Destinatio­n Management Company in Sri Lanka, will be organising the Chauffeur Guide Training Program for the 4th consecutiv­e year, partnering with the renowned training institute - Vision, for enthusiast­s who are passionate about becoming a chauffeur Guide.

Nalaka Amaratunga, CEO of Destinatio­n Management Sector– John Keells Holdings said, “Programme aims at inducting quality chauffeur guides who are truly passionate in imparting their knowledge to tourists, which we believe would uplift the quality standard of the industry. With this objective in mind, we initiated this programme 3 years ago to bring in individual­s outside the industry to be the next ambassador­s of the country.”

The 20 applicants chosen will go through an extensive training programme over a period of six months, giving them the required knowledge and skills to become well certified chauffeur guides. The training will be in the form of classroom and practical sessions, virtual and familiaris­ation tours, as well as assessment centres. Applicants who are fluent in multiple languages are always encouraged to participat­e for this.

Upon successful completion of the program, the participan­ts will receive a certificat­ion issued by the training institute, co- signed by Walkers Tours and Cinnamon Hotels. This initiative will encourage all participan­ts to enter the Licence programme conducted by SLITHM, to obtain the Chauffeur Guide Licence approved by the Tourist Board.
