SLIIT Leo Club conducts social service programmes

-

The Leo Club of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) conducted several social service programmes recently.

These included a seminar for Ordinary Level Mathematics for students of Sri Sumangalodaya School and Anuladevi Girl School, Galle.

The main objective of this seminar is to help them improve their Mathematics skills for which they were provided with the necessary guidelines, especially on how to save time and answer the paper effectively and practice them for the exam. The seminar was conducted by qualified undergraduates who are expert teachers.

A sample past paper was given for a model exam, and the full paper discussed covering the entire syllabus. The session lasted for about 5 hours.

The 2 Seminars were conducted simultaneously by the Leos and the University of Malabe, SLIIT, sponsored the event with refreshments and transport from the school and back.

The students and teachers of the school were very emotional with their appreciation while thanking the Leos for their self- less endeavour, and encouraged the Leos to organise more such events.

Another project aimed at saving oceans, minimising environmental pollution and saving innocent underwater life was conducted at Mt. Lavinia Beach, where the Leos gathered early morning on November 10, with garbage bags.

The 3rd programme called 'Meal for All' was initiated in 2017-2018 and is one of the signature projects of the Club, which later motivated more Clubs to conduct such projects. The main objective of the project is to provide a meal for everyone including social workers, poor in need, without any discrimination by gender, religion, culture, racial etc., and animals ... The Club was successful in providing meals for 100 people and for over 30 animals.

The Leo Club of SLIIT is affiliated to District 306 C1.
