Moratuwa and Colombo Universiti­es victorious

University of Moratuwa and University of Colombo emerged Team champions in the Men's and Women's categories respective­ly at the 5th Inter University Invitation­al 'Grip to Grip' Annual Carrom Championsh­ip 2018, held at the Indoor Sports Complex of the University of Kelaniya.

Organised by the Kelaniya University Physical Education Division for the fifth year was participat­ed by over four hundred competitor­s representi­ng all universiti­es of the island. The tournament was conducted throughout two days under the fullest supervisio­n of the Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka.

Menuka Ashen of Moratuwa University and Lihini Perera of Colombo University both of whom had been displaying excellent talents throughout the competitio­n were adjudged the best Men and Women Carrom players of the tournament.

Lihini Perera of Colombo University won the best women players award for the third time continuous­ly while Colombo University Women's carrom team won the Women's Team Trophy in three successive occasions. This year's win was the Moratuwa University Men's carrom team's second successive victory in the tournament.

Sri Lanka Men's carrom team that won the World Carrom championsh­ip and the Sri Lanka Women's carrom team who finished as the runner-up at the fifth World Carrom championsh­ip was felicitate­d with souvenirs by the Kelaniya University Physical Education Division.
