Selyn welcomes the season with a ‘buy local’ pop-up

It’s the season to shop local as Selyn, Sri Lanka’s only fair-trade handloom company partners with a host of locally-based industries that include Andrea Boekel, Ma’s Kitchen, Panther, Kumbuk, Kitch& and Tiras to give shoppers a special Christmas pop-up on Saturday, December 1 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at their flagship store 102, Fife Road Colombo 5.

There is a gift for everyone – the fashionist­a, gourmet cook, a sweet tooth junkie, stationery collector, pet lover, health nut or the subscrib- er of unique pieces.

Selyn is a household name for all things local and handloom and this year they also have a variety of nonhandloo­m craft products made by artisans from all parts of the country. Selyn has also introduced a range of recycled products and unique Christmas decoration­s to bring cheer to your Christmas.

Andrea Boekel, the prominent exponent of hand embroidery and Brussels Lace will have a sizeable collection of exquisitel­y created garments and home linens. Andrea keeps alive the timeless beauty of hand embroidery working with superfine linens. She will have a range of stylish dresses, blouses, nightdress­es, skirts and a selection of table runners, handkerchi­ef sets and striking batik sarees on silk.

Ma’s Kitchen will have a range of customised and curated hampers, which include a selection of organic products for those wanting to have a more meaningful and sustainabl­e Christmas. Other seasonal goodies include their seasonal hams, which have been smoked using a host of local spices and their selection of freshly ground seasonal mixes will also be available.

Kumbuk will have a collection of their bottled goodies from a divine marinated feta, to their granola jars in three flavours and an indulgent liver pâté to name a few items.Tiras, a specialist home baker will have a selection of freshly made Christmas goodies that are sure to add to the festive cheer. Kitch& will bring huge flavour to your Christmas Feast with their amazing range of sweet and savoury Christmas delights from their famed Bacon Jam to other treats such as their Stout Mustard, Pineapple Sauce and Traditiona­l Pickles.

Panther will be showcasing a selection of fun and funky stationery, and local games such as Mancala.
