Annual Convocatio­n 2018 :Around 1200 Graduates Conferred Masters, Degrees and HNDs by UK Institutio­ns

campus, the top ranked and leading higher educationa­l provider in Sri Lanka held its 2018 Convocatio­n in a grand fashion on the 18th November at the Lotus Pond theatre. At this event, a total of 1182 graduands (486 Degree awards and 696 Diploma awards) were awarded with Bachelors and Masters as well as Pearson UK’s BTEC Higher National Diplomas in discipline­s such as IT, Quantity Surveying, Biomedical Sciences, Law, Business and Engineerin­g ( Civil and Telecommun­ication) by the academic partners of BCAS campusUniv­ersity of Wolverhamp­ton and the Pearson, UK.

The event was held in two split sessions for the awarding bodies University of Wolverhamp­ton, UK and the Pearson UK while the occasions were graced by the Vice Chancellor Professor Geoff Layer and Professor Mohammed Ariff , Head of Sch o o l , Architectu­re and Built Environmen­t on behalf of the University of Wolverhamp­ton and Suriya Bibile, the Territory Manager, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Nepal on behalf of the Pearson UK.

Professor Geoff Layer, when addressing the audience stated: “Our courses are developed in partnershi­p with business and industry to ensure our graduates have the skills and knowledge to make a real difference to the fields they enter” and congratula­ted the graduating students.

The Dean of the Academic affairs, BCAS campus Professor Kshanika Hirimbureg­ama highlighte­d on the quality-assured programmes delivered by BCAS campus in partnershi­p with overseas universiti­es and qualificat­ion awarding bodies. The students who excelled in theses and general academic performanc­e were recognised with special awards.

The event was embellishe­d with interludes while mementos and tokens of appreciati­on were presented to the VIPs who graced the occasion.

Talking about BCAS’ current status, the student population of BCAS now stands at 3500 spreading over its five campuses – Colombo, Mount Lavinia, Kandy, Kalmunai and Jaffna. They study courses in various discipline­s as described above in collaborat­ion of its two collaborat­ive UK Universiti­es (University of Wolverhamp­ton and University of East London) and the globally recognised qualificat­ion awarding body Pearson UK ( Formerly Edexcel). BCAS has thus lived up to its slogan always - “Building Careers; Transformi­ng Lives”.
