Enjoy the festive community spirit with the BSC Christmas carnival

-

It is that time of the year once again, where one of the most awaited holiday seasons is just around the corner. The time for festivity, delicious treats and presents; the time where decorating and putting up a tree is a family affair. It is more than just a day, it is a reason for everyone to come together.

The British School of Colombo’s (BSC) Parent Teacher Association (PTA) invites one and all, family and friends to their annual Christmas Carnival – “Santa’s Village- Where Every Day is Christmas” on December 8. The Christmas Carnival will feature a range of children’s rides and amusements, carefully curated artisan market stalls, gourmet food vendors, live music and entertainment, as well as activities and performances involving their students, and local businesses, Christmas carols, Santa and much more.

If you want to shop for Christmas presents, they will have vendors selling everything from paintings, books, clothes, and jewellery to sports goods and more. If you are looking for things to decorate your home with this festive season, they have Christmas decorations as well as other crafts and decor. There’s also a wide variety of different types of international foods such as Korean, Indian, and Italian goodies, home baked delights and other yummy treats.

There are games for all ages, such as trampoline, bouncer, bubblemachine, arts and crafts, face painting, bungee jump, rodeo bull, tea cup ride, hovercarts, bungarun, virtual games, and more. This year, BSC is introducing the wrist band concept where the purchase of a ticket for Rs. 1000 works as an all day pass and entitles the wristband wearer to unlimited turns on any ride or game.

The entrance draw competition gives every visitor the chance of winning a prize. Entrance tickets are priced at Rs. 300 and entrance is free for children below five years. There are also amazing raffle draw prizes, such as an air ticket to Cardiff given by Qatar Airways, whalewatching by helicopter and a hotel stay gifted by Fairway Holdings and exciting entrance gifts.

The children at the school will also have their art work displayed at the Christmas Carnival.

Celebrating festive seasons like this includes a sense of togetherness- it is all about love, family, kindness, and giving, thinking of others that are less fortunate, the organising committe believes. Over the years BSC’s PTA committee has supported various charities such as Daya Niwasa, helped flood victims and last year they donated funds to the Cerebral Palsy Lanka Foundation (CPLF).
