Chilaw in close win over CCC

Chilaw Marians registered a close 14 run win over CCC in their Premier Super Eight match concluded at Colts grounds yesterday. Chasing 270 runs to win, the CCC fell short by 14 runs when Sagar Paresh captured 6 for 110 runs to lead Chilaw Marians to a fighting win. Paresh picked up 5 for 38 in the first innings to finish with a match bag of 11 for 148 runs.

Colts CC has taken a lead of 441 with seven wickets remaining on day three of their SLC Super Eight Premier Cricket Tournament match played at the SSC grounds yesterday.

Having bowled out Tamil Union for 315, 300 runs shy of Colts mammoth first innings score of 615, they reached 141 for the loss of three wickets at stumps. Avishka Fernando who smashed a swashbuckl­ing double ton in the first innings (223) added 65 runs in the second innings. Sangeeth Cooray remained unbeaten on 31.

For Tamil Union former Sri Lanka all-rounder Jeevan Mendis scored 105 while Manoj Sarathchan­dra (87) and Sithara Gimhan (50) hit half centuries)

SSC took a first innings lead over NCC in their Premier Super eight match played at P Sara Oval yesterday. SSC posted a score of 480 in reply to NCC’s first innings score of 444 thanks to a career high 189 from Sandun Weerakkody. At stumps NCC were 157 for the loss of three wickets with Pathum Nissanka remaining unbeaten on 90. Angelo Perera who scored a quick-fire double century in the first innings hit 31 not out as NCC led by 121 runs with seven wickets in hand.

Sri Lanka Army Sports Club trailed by 129 runs with all ten wickets in hand in their match against Saracens Sc yesterday.
