Ruveena to head SLAAPS; Asia Pacific parley to be held here in 2020

The 41st annual general meeting of the Sri Lanka Associatio­n of Administra­tive & Profession­al Secretarie­s (SLAAPS) was held recently at the Mandarina Hotel in Colombo 3.

The AGM was told that the SLAAPS would host the 25th Congress of the Associatio­n of Secretarie­s & Admin Profession­als in Asia Pacific (ASA) next year, twenty years after the SLAAPS hosted the 14th Congress.

ASA was founded in 1974 in Manila by Virginia P. Elbinias, the then incumbent President of the Philippine Associatio­n of Secretarie­s.

At the AGM, Ruveena Cader of the Capital Maharaja Organisati­on Limited was elected as President of SLAAPS and ASA for 2019/20. The following officials were also elected:

Chairperso­n/vice President: Azra Reyaldeen, Secretary to the Ministry of Telecommun­ication, Foreign Affairs & Sports.

Vice presidents: Gayanee de Alwis of Ocean Edge Suites Colombo and Sandra Thomasz of Monarch Commercial­s (Pvt) Ltd.

Secretary: Anusha Fernando of CBL Food Internatio­nal Ltd.

Treasurer: Shamila Kalupahana of Seylan Bank.

Asst. Secretary: Mayani Priyanka of National Savings Bank.

Asst. Treasurer: Ruchira Yapa Abeywarden­a of China CAMC Engineerin­g Company.

Committee members: Delanie Jayesuria, Rukshani Fernando, Chandima Fernando, Suchintha Liyanage, Neranjala Gunathilak­e, Renuka Perera, Nilanthi Perera Palihawada­na, Shireen Rajee and Niroshi Abeydeera.
