Lanka Cavaliers Cricket 6s on August 24

The 22nd anniversary of Lanka Cricket Cavaliers under the presidency of Tony Gunawardene will be marked with staging of the 7th edition of the Veterans Cricket 'Sixes' 2019 on August 24 at the Bloomfield C&AC Grounds, Reid Avenue.

Vintage Cricket Circle, Mercantile Cricket Association, Old Thurstanites, Olcott Schools, Colombo Masters, Galle Veterans, Kotte Thomian, Adastrians with the two new entrants, Doctors 'Bashers' and Doctors II makes the total number of teams to ten that have confirmed their participation..

A team should consist of five players Over-45 players and one player from the Over-50 category. The tournament will be conducted on the same lines of the Hong Kong International Cricket 'Sixes'. In the previous tournament held on August 26, 2018 at the same venue, Vintage Cricket Circle beat MCA in the final. The four special awards on offer are: Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Final and the Most Senior player to take the field.

The steering Committee, comprising of Tony Gunawardena (Chairman), Sirosha Gunatillake, Pemlal Fernando, Nevin Noyhar, Manoj Perera, Riaz Farouk, Ravi Subasinghe, Manuja Kariyapperuma, Ravi Subasinghe and Tyrone Perera at a meeting held at the MCA on Monday, decided to hold the draw on August 20 at the MCA Pavilion Lounge in the presence of the Captains from the participating teams. Former National players, Hashan Tillakaratne and Roshan Mahanama will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour.
