SriLankan Engineerin­g welcomes latest customer Air Seychelles

SriLankan Engineerin­g, the aircraft Maintenanc­e- RepairOrga­nisation ( MRO) of SriLankan Airlines, recently welcomed a new airline customer – Air Seychelles – for which it carried out an ‘A-check’ on an Airbus A320 aircraft in its specialise­d A320/A321 hangar at the national car r i e r ’ s main hub at Bandaranai­ke Internatio­nal Airport (BIA).

SriLankan Engineerin­g has positioned itself as an emerging MRO in South Asia, accredited with several industry certificat­ions of the highest recognised global standards. The organisati­on possesses EASA certificat­ions for Line Maintenanc­e, Base Maintenanc­e and Engineerin­g Workshops, and authorisat­ion to certify aircraft operating to BIA and Male Internatio­nal Airport in the Maldives, the airline said in a media release.

Vipula Gunatillek­a, Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines, said: “SriLankan has made a significan­t investment in upgrading our MRO facilities at BIA. Coupled with the expertise and experience of our SriLankan Engineerin­g staff and the global certificat­ions from EASA, we are confident that our MRO arm will make a significan­t contributi­on in terms of revenue for the airline.”

D. A. G. Jayasuriya, Chief Technical Officer of SriLankan Airlines, said: “We are delighted to welcome Air Seychelles as a valued customer and look forward to a long and fruitful relationsh­ip. We are confident that SriLankan Engineerin­g will secure third party maintenanc­e contracts with more airlines in the near future.”

SriLankan Engineerin­g also holds approvals from numerous national aviation authoritie­s including Seychelles, Singapore, China, India, Qatar, UAE and Bahrain to carry out aircraft maintenanc­e. It also provides full engineerin­g services for the entire SriLankan Airlines fleet, which comprises A320, A321 ( CEO and NEO versions) and A330 aircraft.

SriLankan Engineerin­g’s dedicated A320/A321 hangar and its Main Hangar were recently modernised to carry out a wide range of maintenanc­e programmes with floor capacity to work on multiple aircraft at any given time. Its engineerin­g workshops were also upgraded.
