Chair Emeritus of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC ) London the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Amsterdam, a member of t h e P r ivat e Sector Advisory Group to the World Bank on Corporate Governance, former Judge of the Supreme Court of South Africa. Chair of the African I n t e g r at e d Reporting Council and Chair of the Integrated Reporting Committee of South Africa.

I am pleased to send this message to mark the 5th‘CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards 2019’ which will be held on 9th September 2019 in Colombo, Sri Lanka coinciding with the CMA National Management Accounting Conference 2019 and Commonwealth Accountants Conference.

As the Chair Emeritus of the International Integrated Reporting Council ( IIRC), I am happy to see the commendable work being carried out by the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka ( CMA Sri Lanka) in popularising Integrated Reporting among public and private companies in Sri Lanka. Especially it is encouraging to see the conclusion of a very successful award ceremony organised by CMA Sri Lanka last year with the participation of 40 companies from various business sectors ranging from public quoted companies, Banks and Financial institutions, government institutions, small and medium organisations and non - profit organisations.

Importance of Integrated reporting to companies is that providers of financial capital and other stakeholders can measure risk on a more informed basis. They can also conclude whether or not the company has a sustainable value creation model.

I take this opportunity to congratulate the President and CMA Sri Lanka for their fruitful journey on Integrated Reporting and annually organising the Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards which is well accepted by the Sri Lankan business community and its stakeholders.
