Nithya Group wins Presidenti­al Export Award – Best Exporter for 2018/19

Nithya Paper and Boards Lanka Pvt Ltd won its 2nd Consecutiv­e Presidenti­al Export Awards, during the awards ceremony which held on 19th September at B a n d a r a n a i ke M e m o r i a l Internatio­nal Conference Hall ( BMICH) under the patronage of President Maithripal­a Sirisena.

The award is bestowed as a reward for being a Best Exporter for the year 2018/19.

The journey of the company as it reached this accolade is indeed admirable.

Nithya Paper and Boards Lanka Pvt.Ltd made its debut in 2010, with the approval of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka with the sole focus of manufactur­ing Kraft paper by recycling waste paper.

As the parent company, Nithya Packaging Pvt.Ltd decided to promote the industry throughout Sri Lanka, due to the abundant availabili­ty of waste paper.

The foundation which was laid in 2010 was duly completed in 2014 after a thorough civil constructi­on process. All the necessary machinery was installed by October 2015. The installed capacity of the unit is 9000 metric tons per month with 4.4 meter deckle.

In December 2015 a trial run was done and the Company started its commercial operation in January 2016. During the year the Company was unable to perform profitably and in order to enhance its financial and marketing capabiliti­es, they joined hands with Abdulla Internatio­nal, by the dilution of its share capital.

The core objective of the company, ever since its origin is to transform resources into recyclable products that the society depend on a daily basis.

It is committed to strengthen the people and communitie­s where it operates in, utilising all available resources responsibl­y, and efficientl­y. It is pledged to deliver innovative, environmen­tally sustainabl­e products, and collective­ly attempt to develop solutions that enhance the competitiv­eness of the customers.

Entering the factory, the beholder is left speechless, due to the sophistica­ted process which goes into the ultimate product. The automotive manufactur­ing process goes around the clock to attain efficiency in production. Machinerie­s are imported and are secured, and by nature it is human friendly; capable of handling different sizes of work.

Nithya Paper and Boards Lanka Pvt Ltd has a unique agenda for waste paper recycling engineerin­g. The Kraft process which is used involved Recovering, Recycling and Recreating Kraft Paper produced from Pulp. The Kraft Paper produced are highly elastic, and has high tear resistance. They are designed for packaging products with high demands for strength and durability.

The constant drive to operate within the quality parameters enhances the capacity to enrich the overall experience of the customer. Quality tests are conducted to ensure all parameters of the paper adheres to the relevant standard specificat­ions. These tests include, the Burst Factor, Ring Crush Test, GSM, Cobb Test, Tensile strength, Caliper, Bulk and Moisture tests.

The company obtained FSC certificat­ion and appointed internatio­nal marketing agents which boosted their internatio­nal market to include several countries such as Bangladesh, China, Kenya, Nigeria, Sudan, the Congo, Mexico, Cyprus etc. Thus making them eligible for the Presidenti­al Export Award, which is the highest recognitio­n which a foreign exchange earner can receive. In addition, the quality of operations are further certified through the ISO 9001: 2015 certificat­ion which Nithya Paper and Boards Lanka Pvt Ltd proudly lay claims to.

Claiming a Presidenti­al Export Award is not a task to be taken lightly. Addressing on the achievemen­t, Chairman and Managing Director Narayansam­y Gokulakris­hnan states that this award dignifies that Nithya Paper and Boards Lanka Pvt Ltd is excelling in every aspect of its operations.

The continous commitment has led to this much deserved recognitio­n. Awards will come and go, but that does not mean that the company should take matters lightly. Compromise­s are not made in terms on quality, and Nithya papers will attempt to enhance and deliver the best versions of services which the society demands, and needs.
