Camera, storage capacity and battery life that define mobile phones

- By Raj Moorthy

Gone are the days where a mobile phone used to be a device to dial and receive calls or for text messages ( SMS). Times have changed to the quality a phone camera could capture a memorable moment, how much storage space it has and how long the battery life will last.

While technology keeps evolving, people’s lifestyles and habits are also changing with time. Everything just boils down to the touch of a button where people are engaged on the mobile devices more than having an interesting conversation with someone in front of them.

Last Tuesday VIVO, a Chinese phone brand launched its newest addition of Vivo V17 Pro mobile phone, at the Shangri La Hotel in Colombo. Camera, capacity and battery life is all that was highlighted in the presentations. The trends of evaluating a phone brand have changed seamlessly from what was explained in the presentations.

VIVO Mobile Lanka, Channel Manager P. Gurubaran at the launch told the Business Times, based on surveys VIVO has done, the phone everyone has had is either for dialing or messaging purpose. The major feature people look for in the phone today is the camera quality to take selfies and group shots. In terms of innovation VIVO is in the forefront and the brand has applied it on cameras.

He also mentioned that since VIVO operations started in Sri Lanka in 2017, it took some time in terms of brand acceptance, but globally the brand is doing well. Day by day the acceptance rate is going up, he added.

The V17 Pro Phone has a 32 mega pixel ( MP) dual pop up selfie camera, along with revolutionary features including high definition and super active matrix organic light emitting diodes ultra- full view display, professional grade 48 MP artificial intelligence quad rear camera. The phone also has an 8GB RAM and 128 GB ROM and will be available in crystal black. Priced at Rs. 85,000 with one year warranty, the phone is sold at Dialog customer care centres and Abans showrooms islandwide. The V17 Pro is a powerhouse packed with a massive 4,100 milliamp hour battery with type C, dual engine fast charging technology.
