Riotous Comedy by CIS

-

Fraud is a very serious offence. With this in mind, the Drama Club of Colombo International School will set the stage for a riotous farce written by Michael Cooney (son of the legendary playwright, Ray Cooney) titled, Cash on Delivery. The play draws on elements of farce and drawing room comedy and has all the ingredients for rib tickling humour - an unexpected plot, eccentric characters and some unforgettable and witty dialogue.

This fast paced British farce concerns a con artist named Eric Swan who has duped the welfare authorities for years by claiming every type of benefit for the innumerable people he claims live at his address. This scam nets him tens of thousands of cash, tax free. Just when he decides he has had enough of his own scam, welfare investigators show up. What unfolds is a hilarious comedy full of mistaken identities, slamming doors, and a fraud that spirals out of control.

Colombo International School has a tightly packed performing arts schedule – two drama productions, a Musical Evening and a Cultural Show to name a few of the many events they stage every year. This production is organized by and includes students from Year 11 and the Sixth Form and is the first major performing arts event for the 2019/20 academic year. The students have been working on the show since mid-August and are excited to present this hilarious farce to the theatre-goers of Colombo.

The truth about Eric Swan and his numerous claims will be revealed at the CIS Auditorium on October 24 and 25 at 7.30pm. Tickets are now available at the CIS reception.
