Spectrum Institute of Science & Technology (SIST) is the pioneering higher education provider in the field of life sciences. It was initiated in 2001 with the aim of providing young scientists an opportunit­y to reach their goals and exhibit their capabiliti­es to the best of their abiiity.

Edinburgh Napier University, a prestigiou­s university in Scotland is the collaborat­ive partner of SIST that offers two recognized full time degree programmes - B. Sc. ( Hons) Microbiolo­gy and Biotechnol­ogy and B. Sc. Hons Biomedical Science. Both programmes are recognised by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka and all four years can be completed in Sri Lanka. The students also obtain the opportunit­y to apply for ENU research grants during their course of study.

SIST also has multi-sectoral collaborat­ions with internatio­nally and nationally renowned research institutes such as Wageningen University and research - Netherland­s, University of Plymouth - UK, Industrial Technology Institute - Colombo, Faculty of Medicine University of Colombo and much more.

The institute is currently located in Narahenpit­a. The campus contains many facilities including fully furnished state of the art laboratori­es and a comprehens­ive library. Journal club, Short courses and hands on experience workshops and industrial visits are few activities SIST carries out in order to develop the scientific skills of students.

We have over 2000 alumni across industries and academics representi­ng both national and internatio­nal platforms, succeeding and standing out in their respective positions.
