-

A spectacular evening with Mr. Harpo Gooneratne, CEO/Founder of Harpo’s Cafes & Restaurants on 16th of February 2020, brought together over 100 ANC students including U.S & Canada Transfer Students, Postgraduate students of University of West London, SQA Advanced Diploma students and Topup students as well as U.S Degree Completion students to witness an inspirational keynote by Sri Lanka’s very first DJ and entertainer who become one of Sri Lanka’s great success stories.

“Disrupt the Ordinary” is about being the leader who is willing to approach life in a unique and unorthodox way.

Mr. Harpo Gooneratne took the road less traveled when he started out as an entrepreneur in the hospitality industry over 30 years ago, and despite many ups and downs, twists and turns he kept on going, believed in his dream to one day create beautiful spaces for people to unwind and enjoy as he has accomplished through his delicious and amazing chain of Harpo’s Cafes &

Restaurants; The Bay Leaf Italian Restaurant, The Commons Coffee House, now in its 15th year followed by Park Street Mews Restaurant, Colombo Fort Café, Curve- Tapas Restaurant and Bar, and the first homegrown pizza brand- Harpo’s Pizza & Pasta.

Becoming one of Sri Lanka’s successful businessmen and building an iconic brand is a testimony to his successful leadership style.

“To be a top performer we must think, act and behave in a different manner than everyone else” he says. His dynamic personality, innovative leadership approach and innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life sums up his most prized qualities for success.

Fun, inspirational and delicious are the sentiments of ANC Students who engaged with the legendary personality over mouthwatering Harpo’s Pizza and asked many questions about his journey to success and the values he lives by which gave students tremendous insights into a new era of leadership with a human touch.
