‘A Ballerina’s Tale’: Students ballet concert

The students of the ‘Russian School of Ballet and Dancing’ will be showcasing their talents in this year’s concert ‘A Ballerina’s Tale’ at the BMICH Main Hall on Saturday, 29th February 2020.

Celebratin­g 19 years since its inception, the Russian School of Ballet currently houses 850 aspiring ballerinas under the guidance of nine ballet instructor­s namely, Galina Pleshakova, Samantha Samararath­ne, Niluka Madurawela, Radeesha Bodiyabadu, Lasni Subasinghe, Sadani Peiris, Kavishka Premathile­ke, Shenaalie Dias and Samindi de Silva accredited and guided by the Moscow

State Academy of Choreograp­hy under the patronage of veteran Russian ballerina Oxana Karnovich.

The Concert will showcase ballerinas starting from age 3 onwards. The evening is a fusion of classic and modern Russian dance and music elements such as traditiona­l Russian dances, Waltz, Nutcracker, Polka, Beryozka, Doga Waltz, Folk

Dances, Tarantella, Baba Yetu, Semionova Ballet, Rainbow Ballerinas, Waltz of Flowers, Sugar Plum Fairy (Modern) Peacock Dance (ballet), Swan Lake Waltz, Spring Waltz, The Queens’, The Dream, Polka Dance, Snow White (Russian Ballet), Sleeping Beauty Waltz, Princesses ballet Dance, Waltz of flowers, Swans, Spanish Dance and more.

The concert is organised under the guidance of Anastasia Khokhlova, 1st Secretary of the Embassy of Russian Federation / The Director of the Russian Centre in Colombo, Buddhapriy­a Ramanayake CEO and Chandi Aluvihare, the Cultural Officer as the founders of The Russian School of Ballet and Dancing in Sri Lanka.
