Just advice, no arrests
The police are advising people to wear face-masks as otherwise they can be taken into custody and legal action instituted against them, Spokesman, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jaliya Senaratne said.
Debunking as false the information being spread that if a person is caught without a mask they would be sent into quarantine, he said that police are advising people to wear masks and adhere to guidelines such as social distancing. No one has been taken into custody in this regard.
