Horizon Campus offers industry renowned BIT programme from University of Moratuwa

With a strong belief that valued partnershi­ps with top academic entities create the synergy that enables to produce graduates of high caliber. Horizon Campus havimg signed an MOU with the University of Moratuwa, now o f fers the Bachelor of Informatio­n Technology (BIT) program of University of Moratuwa which is an approved programme by the University Grants commission (UGC).

Comprising of six semesters and open to G.C.E.(A.L.) qualified students from any stream, the BIT degree is designed to train students with a breadth of knowledge across a range of IT discipline­s, and a depth of understand­ing in a specializa­tion, allowing them to become sought after profession­als in the IT industry.

The blended subject areas of the program include System Security, Visual Applicatio­n Programmin­g, Web Design, Mobile Applicatio­n D eve l o p m e n t , H u m a n Computer Interactio­n,

Artificial Intelligen­ce, IT Project Management and Data Mining, among others. Students will also gain critical thinking and management skills needed to work with new technologi­es.

During the program period, Horizon Campus will conduct classes in accordance with the quality standards defined by the University of Moratuwa with a highly qualified senior academic panel utilized by excellent infrastruc­ture and facilities to support quality learning. Continuous assessment­s and evaluation­s to map the progress of students along with various assessment techniques such as Quizzes, Discussion Forums and Practical Examinatio­ns, will be a part of the Programme.

On successful completion, students will be able to analyze well defined problems and design, implement and evaluate solutions that demonstrat­e an understand­ing of the systems context in which the software is developed and operated including economic, social, historical, sustainabi­lity and ethical aspects. They will have the ability to demonstrat­e an operationa­l understand­ing of the foundation­s of computer science including programmin­g, algorithms, architectu­res and data structures and be able to communicat­e complex concepts effectivel­y with diverse audiences using a range of modalities and work effectivel­y within team environmen­t.

The Degree allows multiple exit points that includes the Diploma level, Higher Diploma level and Degree level and prepare students for a variety of career paths, such as Network and Systems Administra­tion, Database Administra­tion, Web Deve l o p m e n t , S e c u r i t y Analysis, Software Developer, Software Architect, Software Designer, Network Engineer and Business Analyst.

Students will further benefit from the strong industry connection of Horizon campus that include multinatio­nal companies, leading blue chips and innovative startups.
