With the stalled domestic cricket season all set to begin tomorrow following the pandemic forced break, Head coach Mickey Arthur expects his charges to use the opportunity to fine tune ahead of Bangladesh’s tour of Sri Lanka in October.

Bangladesh is likely to arrive here in Sri Lanka to complete their postponed series of three Tests in October if Sri Lanka Cricket gets the greenlight from government and the health authorities to resume international cricket.

“Sri Lanka’s domestic first class competition starts again on Monday...really looking forward to our current and fringe players performing and putting their hands up for selection for the Bangladesh series which hopefully will take place here in Sri Lanka in October/ November,” Arthur wrote in his official twitter handle.

Super Eight:

al cricketers have been in training periodically since July in order to keep themselves match fit.

The Premier domestic cricket tournament of Sri Lanka which was earlier scheduled to be worked off from July 14 will start tomorrow.

The two tournaments namely the Super Eight and the Plate

Championship will be played concurrently over three days instead of the normal four-day encounter and will be worked off in four venues around the metropolis.

The four rounds of the Super Eight segment contested by the top four teams of the two groups which was scheduled to be completed to decide the champions came to a standstill in March due to the corona virus pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Plate Championship segment contested by the bottom three teams of the two groups where three more round of matches are scheduled to be played will be completed by August 24.

However, the matches will be played to complete the two segments, but there will be no promotion or demotion and the same teams will contest the tournament next season.
