Interact Drive ‘Covid-19 Stop the Spread’ in 53 key schools
Interact youth arm of Rotary- the leading service organization has reached over two hundred thoughts household directly by implementing the STOP THE SPREAD the signature project across 51 schools to protect families from the deadly Covid- 19 virus said the District Youth Service Chairman Dr Rohantha Athukorala.
The STOP THE SPREAD project drives the behaviour wearing a mask, checking the temperature and washing the hands as frequently as possible whilst maintaining a 1 meter distance so that in the event the virus enters the country the spread can be mitigated he said.
Given that most Interactors are either Head Prefects, Deputy Head Prefects or Prefects in a school they are strong opinion leaders and hence can have a heavy influence to creating behaviour changes among students, this compliments the use of top sports personalities in the schools for the campaign commented Rahul Fernandez the District Interact Representative for Sri Lanka & Maldives.
Todate, there are five Sri Lankan Cricket Captains, 3 Sri Lanka Rugby Captains and 15 Top athletes of the National Olympic Committee at a national level whilst at the school end we have featured almost 200 Commonwealth, South Asian Games medallions which can be valued at over a 1 billion rupees in commercial value said Haani Raheem the energetic District Interact Project Director for STOP THE

Interact Has almost 5800 members across all schools around Sri Lanka and is actively driving the Covid19 Virus Management so that the country can support the efforts of the state that taken away 1 million lives globally and almost 35 million people been affected. In the South Asian region the worst affected us India whilst globally the United States has the most infected that has resulted in almost 83% of the parents stating that they will not send their children to school until March 2021. Sri Lanka was recently ranked as the 2nd best managed country of the virus.
