British Cosmetics (Pvt) Ltd launches Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

-

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, British Cosmetics, the premium beauty brand, launched its first ever breast cancer awareness campaign, aiming to spread knowledge on combatting the disease among its employees and local communities. The campaign includes various activities highlighting the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and on methods of prevention and early detection of breast cancer.

During the month of October, all British Cosmetics outlets will actively be engaged in fundraising activities. A special Pink Ribbon product range will be available online on www.britishcosmetics.lk where all proceeds will be directed toward efforts in providing practical, medical and financial support to people with breast cancer. Meanwhile, British Cosmetics will be hosting its first ever ‘Pink Ribbon’ walk, a public event to unite as one community to raise awareness about Breast Cancer and honour the Breast Cancer survivors in Sri Lanka. The walk will be held on 31st October from Town Hall Colombo to Arcade Independence Square. The public can register for the walk at any of the British Cosmetics outlets.

Nirosha Jagodaarachchi, CEO of British Cosmetics (Pvt) Ltd, commenting on the campaign said, “Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a good time to remind the women in our lives to get themselves screened. Our participation in the campaign is a mainstay of our annual corporate responsibility program. We hope to conduct the campaign every year and educate the public on practical steps that can be taken to protect themselves from it.” Breast cancer is the top cancer in women worldwide and is increasing particularly in developing countries where the majority of cases are diagnosed in late stages.
