Irish dishes with an Italian twist

- By Ruqyyaha Deane

Irish themed restaurant Four Leafed Clover down Maya Avenue, Kirulapone has added an Italian twist as it comes under the new management of Excel Restaurants, a subsidiary of the Browns Group, combining two very popular cuisines to diversify its menu.

Giving a taste to what the revamped restaurant had to offer, the relaunch of the restaurant featured an array of dishes kicking off with hors d’oeuvres - a chicken liver pate crostini, corned beef on toast, mini pizzas and salmon bouchees that were delightful, flavourpacked bites to start the evening.

The main courses which were served in buffet style included a creamy seafood lasagna, a baked modha en papillote, crispy chicken strips with a tomato and mango sauce, batter fried prawn and fish with a chilli garlic mayo and Irish baked potatoes with sour cream. A roasted lamb leg with a rosemary jus and a traditional beef wellington were served as well with two special hot stations for penne pasta and an interesting new speciality for the restaurant that can be ordered on request - the ‘ roast paan kothu’.

Previous patrons will be happy to know that although their menu has expanded with various new additions, the welcoming interior of the restaurant has not changed much and its cosy ambience remains. From the eye- catching mural depicting a story of myths and legends, the cascading chandelier that’s made out of upcycled glass bottles above the spiral staircase that leads you to a stunning rooftop terrace decorated with fairy lights, Four Leafed Clover remains the same except for random touches of Italian decor added here and there.

The two- storeyed building is a welcoming spot for either an intimate dinner with family, private parties, business meetings or an evening with friends especially as the restaurant will continue to feature live music collaborating with local artists on certain days.
