Inspiring tomorrow’s leaders

With the aim of keeping youth engaged and motivated by highlighti­ng success stories of inspiring young leaders the National Showcasing Team of AIESEC Sri Lanka recently organized a podcast series titled “Leadership Is All About” to keep young minds engaged during the lockdown.

The podcast series aired on the official Facebook page of AIESEC Sri Lanka, AIESEC Sri Lanka Anchor Channel; its Spotify Channel and its official YouTube channel.

The first season of the “Leadership Is Also About’ Podcast Series consisted 12 episodes while the second season is also on the cards.

The first episode of the podcast series was a discussion on “How Organizati­ons Should,” with the participat­ion of Navodhya Jayasinghe, Finance Manager of AIESEC Internatio­nal for the 2020/2021 and President of AIESEC Sri Lanka for the term 201/2020 and Sisitha Gayara, President of AIESEC Sri Lanka for the term 2020/2021.

leadership developmen­t and management, cultural understand­ing, and experienti­al learning.

AIESEC Sri Lanka, as a member chapter of AIESEC Internatio­nal, has been encouragin­g many young leaders since its establishm­ent in 1995. AIESEC Sri Lanka is currently one of the largest youthrun organisati­ons on the island with an active membership of more than 1000 students and recent graduates representi­ng 8 universiti­es and higher education institutes in Sri Lanka.

“The principle concentrat­ion of this podcast series was on exploring topics that would be helpful in discoverin­g and developing leadership potential of young people in a way that they become engaged and inspired to think and act differentl­y.It was also about providing young people with the right knowledge that will help them to have a different perspectiv­e on leadership and encouragin­g them to be successful leaders in the future,” said ThiliniMed­iwake- Lead Podcast, National Showcasing Team of AIESEC Sri Lanka.

“Areas that are essential and crucial in developing leadership potential of young people have been discussed throughout the first season of the Podcast series. The podcast series has brought forward a very insightful and practical outlook on topics related to leadership developmen­t, organizati­onal developmen­t, people management, sustainabl­e developmen­t goals, community developmen­t, partnershi­p developmen­t, financial management, and selfleader­ship,”saidThilin­i.

“AIESEC is an organizati­on made by youth, for youth. As such the main target audience of the podcast series is young people between the ages of 18-30,” added Thilini.

Moreover, this is an initiative that brings forward the real stories of great leaders and breakingst­ereotypes. Similarly, the series encourages young Sri Lankans to not only pursue their dreams but also recognizes the importance of being leaders who are empowered, self-aware, solution-oriented and interested in resolving issues,” says Thilini.
