The experience and exposure provided to the students has international and local balance that goes hand in hand in making a positive ‘impACT’ on students and also at industry level. The aim of this focus is to make the students employable and achieve 100% success after graduation. The design discipline inculcated at AOD undoubtedly enriches Sri Lanka’sheritage identity while extending the students’ ability to enter the international arena.

The work of students over the past 3 years are showcased at Reveal Graduate exhibition – finally leading to stage their competence. This enables the students to transform to their best selves, shaping them to become the designers they are, without moving away from their true authentic self.

This is pragmatically managed through collaborations and partnerships with industry involving and engaging them with the students throughout their study journey. Constant links with the stakeholders, mentors, provide valuable know-how on the industry techniques and teach pragmatic approaches.Teaching is notby using conventional or black board methods. AOD provides a tutor-oriented curriculum, encouraging peer work and inter-departmental collaborations across all five disciplines.

AOD students have the opportunity to travel on Annual Study trips to countries such as Singapore, United States, India, Japan, France – covering around 4 to 5 international trips throughout their learning period of 3 years. Designated annual events are held every year.

Similarly, AOD extends its collaborations outside the university reaching out to foreign design universities and integrated into exchange programme. Even during pandemic time, education programmes including internship ran virtually withinternational mentors as part of the curriculum. AOD provides its Design Disciplines through a Hybrid learning system ensuring a wellmanaged and safe engaged environment for the students.

Furthermore, AOD ensures gender participation in the disciplines without confining fashion for females and gaming and graphics for males. 2021 Reveal Graduate showcase, for the first time, saw a full batch of females graduating in Visual Communication Design and 1:1 gender participation in Motion Graphics & Animation design disciplines.
