University of Sri Jayewarden­epura is one of Sri Lanka’s most prestigiou­s universiti­es that quite often makes headlines in all streams and sectors. J’pura Voice; the Official Broadcasti­ng Unit of the University of Sri Jayewarden­epura is an active and engaging circle of the students who are keen on being innovative and sharpening their skills in a multitude of ways which is also a platform where novelty is born and raised. With that, J’pura Voice is ready to make a groundbrea­king record where it has taken the initiative to expand its extremes to the world of e-sports for the very first time in the history of state universiti­es.

With a pandemic hitting Sri Lanka unexpected­ly, undergradu­ates are forced to keep themselves at home which triggered the idea of a virtual e-sports championsh­ip as a new path to evade boredom and escape these mediocre days. E-sports is one of the fastest growing sports in the world which is yet to be initiated and recognised at a state level in the country. Therefore J’pura Voice has decided to initiate Virtual League 2021: E-Sports Championsh­ip which will be launched on the 23rd and 24th of January 2021 on an online platform from 7.00 pm onwards. It will be the 1st ever e-sports championsh­ip hosted by University of Sri Jayawarden­epura which will feature one of the most popular mobile games in the world: PUBG which is a third person shooter mobile game that has been an obsession of many young gamers today. Its unique style and strategy is what that has captured the attention of many youngsters. J’pura Voice has decided to present where the absence of enough recognitio­n has always been a constant amongst those that love mobile games.

Virtual League 2021 is open for all undergradu­ates of both state and private universiti­es of Sri Lanka. Any number of teams can participat­e under a set of fair and equal rules and regulation­s.
