“SOLO CHRISTMAS POLA” organised by HNB in Batticaloa

HNB’s digital product SOLO has been exclusivel­y designed as a payment solution to meet the ongoing pandemic situation and digital savvy generation. It is like a digital wallet in a mobile device where any bank accounts and cards can be added to make any payments related to purchasing and utility bills through reading merchant specific QR codes.

To promote this product, an HNB regional level SOLO Pola was organised at Batticaloa on December 18 to familiaris­e with this payment solution among the general public. The event was coordinate­d under the leadership of N. Kethiswara­n (Regional Business Head), S. Sathiyasee­lan (Regional Credit Head) and K. Thilahesha­n (Regional Operations Head) with the support of the Eastern Region HNB managers and staff.

This pola was arranged at the American Mission hall in Trincomale­e road by strictly adhering to COVID-19 health regulation­s. Batticaloa District Ms. Uthayarani Uhenthiran, Assistant Director of Small Enterprise Developmen­t Division of Batticaloa S. Vinoth and M.I. Uwais - Chief Police Inspector Batticaloa participat­ed as guests.

In a media release, the HNB regional office, said the Additional Government Agent of Batticaloa praised HNB’s initiative­s and agreed to support this needy transforma­tion among employees in government department­s. Nearly 30 small and medium entreprene­urs displayed their products to the public at this pola with more than 400 digital transactio­ns done. This initiative of the HNB also created healthy marketing opportunit­ies for local products in this area by linking buyers and producers without the involvemen­t of middlemen.
