ICC's Oceanfront Condominiu­ms Galle by ICC crowned platinum at Green Building CouncilGBC­SL Awards 2021

Multi- disciplina­ry constructi­on giant, Internatio­nal Constructi­on Consortium (Pvt) Ltd (ICC) emerged as a key driver of environmen­t-friendly structures in the country with the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka (GBCSL) awarding their newest property, Oceanfront Condominiu­ms (OFC) Galle the 'Platinum' status.

OFC Galle was successful in fetching the accolade due to the unique concept, design and architectu­re where the residentia­l complex is based on.

OFC Galle, a premium beachfront property in the portfolio of ICC was crowned under the Green Rating System for Built Environmen­t – Version 2.0. The Platinum Rated Green Building Status is the highest to be offered by GBCSL.

OFC Galle ranked at the top of Sri Lanka's green building list for 2021 with a score of over 70 points which was achieved by fulfilling eight (8) key aspects of the Green Rating System which are; Management, Sustainabl­e Sites, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmen­tal Quality, Innovation and Design Process, and Social and Cultural Awareness.

The design draws inspiratio­n from the Galle Fortress and holds 101 apartments across 15 floors. Giving a value for the investment, main building was constructe­d in a single pane for all the units to have a scenic view of the open sea.

The project consists of one to four- bedroomed units with floor areas ranging from 750 sqft to 2550 sqft, with luxury amenities. Making OFC Galle one of Sri Lanka's prominent green buildings, ICC has intelligen­tly incorporat­ed number of key features into its unique design effort including the plot coverage of 46.8% of the site, (while the maximum plot area ratio declared by the UDA is 50 percent), access to differentl­y-abled persons in terms of vertical & horizontal means, maintainin­g the Disability Standards across the property, and the availabili­ty of rainwater harvesting tanks among others.

Furthermor­e, the building comprises 66% of naturally ventilated areas to maximize energy efficiency and personal comfort.
