Rewarding excellence in the local packaging industry: Sri Lanka Packaging Awards 2022
As the President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging It is my privilege and pleasure to issue this statement on behalf of the committee and the council of management.
The Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging, an association of Private and Public Sector Enterprises in Sri Lanka was formed in 1967 with the assistance of the Export Promotion Secretariat of the Government of Sri Lanka. It represents the Sri Lankan Packaging Fraternity comprising Manufacturers, Converters, Traders, Service Providers, and users of Packaging Material in the country and is an active member of the Asian Packaging Federation and the World Packaging Organization.
During its long existence, the Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging has contributed in numerous ways towards the development of the Packaging Industry in the country. Organizing International Packaging Exhibitions and seminars, training programmes, overseas exposure visits and the provision of consultancy services are some of the key activities the Institute has carried out on a regular basis in this regard.
The keen competition to be recognized for Excellence in Packaging and the ensuing Awards Presentation bring together the Packaging Fraternity in the country to honour those who have truly excelled in their field, this evening at this Prestigious Sri Lanka Packaging Awards. This Annual Packaging Awards Contest and the Awards Night have been one of the most celebrated events in the packaging calendar of Sri Lanka.
The first ever Sri Lanka Packaging Awards Contest was held in 1987. The Institute also inaugurated a Student Star contest for Excellence in Packaging in 2001 to encourage and recognize the hidden talents of students engaged in Package design activities in their schools and Universities.
The Sri Lanka Packaging Award winners are eligible to submit their winning entries to the prestigious Asia Star and World Star Contests held annually in one of their member countries. A significant number of members of our Institute and University Students have repeatedly won Both Asia Star and World Star Awards showing that the local Packaging Industry has developed and reached international standards during the past 4 decades.
On behalf of the Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging I wish to offer my congratulations and best wishes to all the award winners. May they go on to achieve even greater heights. The interest and enthusiasm exhibited by the contestants amply demonstrate that the Sri Lankan Packaging Industry is prepared and equipped to support the industrial development in the country and service packaging needs globally.
