The Sri Lankan Packaging industry: Four decades of excellence that has reached international standards
It is indeed my pleasure to write this message on behalf of our co-chairs Mrs Tania Francis and Mr Manti Weerasekera.
The first ever Sri Lanka Packaging Awards earlier known as Lanka Star Awards was held in 1987 in conjunction with the 17th Asian Packaging Congress and Lankapak 87 Packaging Exhibition in Colombo. The Institute also inaugurated a Student Star contest for Excellence in
Packaging in 2001 to encourage and recognise the hidden talents of those students engaged in Package design activities in their schools and Universities.
Prestigious Lanka Star Awards named as Sri Lanka Packaging Awards is an annual awards Contest and its Awards Night have been one of the most celebrated events in the corporate calendar of Sri Lanka.
It is with great happiness we congratulate all the award winners and all participants for showcasing their work during a very tough period.
The Sri Lanka Packaging Award winners are eligible to submit their winning entries to the prestigious Asia Star and World Star Contests held annually in different countries.
Its noteworthy to update that, during past years there had been many Asia star and World Star winners, showcasing to the world that Sri Lankan Packaging has reached international standards during the past four decades.
The interest and enthusiasm exhibited by the contestants amply demonstrate the fact that the Sri Lankan Packaging Industry is very much alive and is prepared and equipped to support industrial development in the country. I take this opportunity to thank all our respected Judges throughout the years, Council and members of Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging, Sponsors and all who supported us directly and indirectly. Without your contribution it will not be possible for us to show case the best in Packaging Industry.
